Cityboy - s/t - `76 Mercury Debut

i dunno how i managed to grow up without this lp -- i find it 30 yrs later ! oh well , better late than never eh : this is a nice grower. not sure how this fell through the cracks:
ha , speaking of some of it reminds me of crack the sky , maybe meets kansas. its really good , let me know what you think ~ IF YOU GUYS DIG THIS , I ALSO HAVE "THE DAY THE EARTH CAUGHT FIRE"..
oh ya , & this one was produced by "mutt" lange , back when he was "robert john" !
:)

my fave tracks here are "5,000 years" , thats the epic here eh ? also love "greatest story ever told" & "haymaking time" !

enjoy ~

Welcome and many thanks for this.

that 'Oddball Dance' is my fave: has an old Sparks or current Martin Gordon vibe [note to MG: cover this!!]-- that ending percussion/production dreamscene breakdown is inspired!

I HEAR ya; my fave Sparks may be Kimono My House, with the British band led by M Gordon, that i mentioned. He is superactive these days still doing related material!

great post. I only know Young  Men Gone West by them. That one is very 10cc. Can't wait to hear these, especially since you evoked the holy name of Crack The Sky. Thanks. You post some really cool stuff & I like your intro/warning. Great.

Thanks for spreading the word on City Boy. They actually received a fair amount of airplay in New York City back in the late 70s on WNEW-FM when the debut came out. Even a local lite station would play Haymaking Time. The good old days when rock radio was meaningful and varied.

I have a bunch of Crack The Sky to share on my blog. Come visit and thanks again!
